Three to go

Jarod | November 29, 2008

Weeks, thats is. I’m good for holidays.

Friday, I lost my banking card. Or it was stolen, who knows. No money is missing so far, but I have to wait a week or two before I get a new card, and the next bank isn’t exactly close by.

A friend and I enjoy playing Call Of Duty: WaW co-op, and the zombie level. It makes me want to buy Left 4 Dead after all. Oh well, maybe not. I found a buyer for Dead Space, don’t think I will play it twice.

Also, bought a Radeon 4870, mainly for Fallout 3. I figured I better buy it now, as long as I still get some money for my old card. Anyone need a 8800GT? Problem: the 4870 has two fans, and only one can be speed-controlled. The other one always spins at the same speed and is horribly loud. So I simply unplugged it. Ran a few tests at full load, and the card is stable, temperatures are still lower than with my old card, and it’s less noisy as well now.

GTA 4 is coming out next week and I’m totally excited (this game season really IS packed with great games), but I think I will wait and suggest it as a present for christmas ;) I’m broke now anyway. Nobody can tell ME I didn’t support the global economy, being the good little consumer that I am. Darn.

It’s BIOLOGICAL, duh

Jarod | November 14, 2008

Getting up early isn’t that hard, I mean, I’m just lazy, really. All I have to do is go to bed earlier.

YESSSS, riiiiiiight. There are two chronotypes, and many shades in between. It’s a biological fact.

Have you ever asked a left handed man to finally start writing with the right hand, everybody else can do it…?

Dutch Intervention

Jarod | November 14, 2008

Okay, real quick, just the basic facts. Maybe I’ll write more next weekend (right now, I’m too hungry. Tired. Hungry & tired).

I just came back from The Hague, where I spent the last four days on a conference. Learned some interesting new things, well, at least got a clearer view on the future of my noble profession. And on what I should do to make sure that it has one.

It was cool, very nice city, kinda November-like (who would have guessed), and yes it’s true, there are a few bikes in the Netherlands. A lot few. And it rains, too.

One evening my colleague and I went to see A Quantum Of Solace. Advantageously, they show movies in the original language versions (most, anyways) in the Netherlands, with sub titles. Overall entertaining, a little shallow in the way it tries to be exactly the opposite, and it helps to re-watch Casino Royale before you go see Quantum, as otherwise the story is a little hard to follow. Or totally inapprehensible. No gadgets, enough story holes and ridiculous stunts though to still feel like a Bond movie. If you ask me, it’s not totally bad, but Bourne’s better, and so is Casino Royale.

I picked up Fallout 3 on the way out, which was slightly cheaper than in the mother country, now I just hope I won’t need the manual, which of course is in Dutch.

Left 4 Dead demo is out, so download started.

Why does it take 8 hours to defrag my hard drive(s)?

Full moon, made a nice picture, maybe for a new skin…?

Scared

Jarod | November 5, 2008

Just played Dead Space with the lights off and headphones on. I wonder if I can sleep. The monsters I don’t really care about, it’s the sounds that make my skin crawl.
