barely fatal

A few friends and I went to see the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull premiere last night. It sounds like Indy, it feels like Indy, it looks like Indy. Well. For the most parts it looks like Indy. There are so many special effects and explosions, personally I think it’s too much, over the top. At its heart it’s still a B-movie and you want to like it – but if that old man wouldn’t look, sound and act like the Harrison Ford you idolized as a kid, you wouldn’t forgive his age so easily. But we had a lot of fun, and that’s what counts, doesn’t it?

There were a few kids with us in the cinema, maybe ten years old. I had the feeling that their parents dragged them into the movie to let them experience the same what they did when they saw the first Indy movie at their age. But those kids were quite scared during really spooky scenes and violent parts, I guess they were a little too young to see scary skeletons and people getting eaten by giant ants…

My personal favourite still is – and probably always will be – is The Last Crusade. You just can’t beat “Ah, Venice” and the tank chase…

I got me one of those pad-using coffee makers, a Senseo. I have a very small kitchen, and now I have another piece of electronics using up the space. But it’s still worth it. My old-school espresso machine is too complicated. Now I can make a coffee in the morning and another one when I get home, with next to no effort at all. Yes, it’s more expensive to buy those pads, but I’m single (yeah, still, thank you for reminding me) and this is ideal. I’ll stick to tea at work – we get free coffee, but it makes me jumpy and I don’t trust the coffee maker too much.

I watched The Invasion last night, and I liked it. It’s more like a zombie movie than anything else, and the story reaaaally isn’t new, but Nicole Kidman is brilliant. Daniel Craig remains somewhat flat, though.

Ah, the sun. The city is very busy. Feels like summer.

Yeah, twelve. And now, my parents can’t get them to leave the garden (which doesn’t feature a pond, of course). The noise. The duck poo. Every year the same affair … Ha!

Today I had this year’s first barbeque. Fire, meat, and beer, ho ho yeah. Ok, no fire but electricity, but that’s almost as good.
