Bollywood in Ephesus

Jarod | October 30, 2007

16 million people live in and around Istanbul. That makes a large number of cars. During Ramadan, the month in which Muslims are not allowed to eat or drink between sunrise and sunset, the rush hour in the evening can hardly be described as just “traffic”. It’s more like an ocean of cars.

Rush Hour in Instanbul

In the first week in Turkey, on the bus trip, we did a lot of hotel hopping. Good for us, the hotels got better and better every day. So did the desserts. Turkish sweets are really, really sweet and I’m sure I gained a few kilos just by the desserts.

In Ephesus, in an ancient roman theater, an Indian film crew practiced a dancing scene. Bollywood at its best.

Bah, it’s freezing in here. Getting back from a summer holiday end of October really is a little strange.

Back From Turkey

Jarod | October 29, 2007

I’m back, finally. I spent a very informative yet stressful week on a bus, visiting most of the important historical sites in western Turkey. Then I enjoyed the sun (got me the obligatory sun burn, too) for another week in a very nice hotel, all-inclusive. Then I flew home – and got sick. So I spent the last week in bed, puking my guts out.

Anyhow I’m back, back to work. So more later.

Galactica meets IKEA

Jarod | October 3, 2007

Now when I told my friends yesterday that quite a few of the props on Battlestar Galactica and Grey’s Anatomy are actually from IKEA, they didn’t believe me, at least not the Galactica part. It’s pretty obvious in Grey’s, as you can see the Aneboda furniture in nearly every episode. In Galactica, you have to take a closer look.

I can’t post pictures as I would probably violate a few copyrights, so you will have to check it out yourselves:

You can see the Format desk lamp in the CIC and in other places on Galactica and on Caprica (scene with Starbuck’s mother in Maelstrom).

Lersta can be seen as well (in the same episode, I think).

The most interesting item however is the shaving mirror Adama uses. Guess what it’s called. Correct, FRÄCK.
